Background:
Mumbai Fire Brigade in partnership with Project Mumbai, an award-winning not-for-profit organization launched AGNI RAKSHAK – MAKING MUMBAI FIRE SAFE – a unique citizen volunteer program to train citizens in fire safety and awareness. Close to seventy citizens from across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, who took part in the classroom and practical sessions for nearly half a day were awarded FIRE SAFETY CITIZEN CHAMPION certificates by the two organizations. The session is free for citizens and is held at the Byculla Headquarters of the Mumbai Fire Brigade and will take place every Saturday and will admit only pre-registered candidates.
Activity Details:
This month the Agni Rakshak session was held on 26th October, Saturday. There were a total of 72 volunteers. The volunteers came from different groups and colleges. This month we had Flame Fire Safety Institute, ATENAS Fraternity, and other citizens who came through Online Registration as participants for the session.
. Theory Lecture Session:
This lecture was commanded by Station Officer Mr.Taware. The theory lecture session consists of basic information about fire safety and the overall history of the Mumbai Fire Brigade. The session is very helpful to the volunteers in understanding the methods of taking action in case of any fire-calling accident.
Practical Fire Safety Training:
In Practical fire safety training, the officers teach the volunteers how to use a Fire Extinguisher. Station Officer Taware commanded the session.
