Background:
Mumbai Fire Brigade, in partnership with Project Mumbai, an award-winning not-for-profit organization, launched AGNIRAKSHAK – MAKING MUMBAI FIRE SAFE – a unique citizen volunteer program to train citizens in fire safety and awareness.
Close to seventy citizens from across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai participated in the classroom and practical sessions, which lasted nearly half a day. These participants were awarded FIRE SAFETY CITIZEN CHAMPION certificates by the two organizations.
The session is free for citizens, held at the Byculla Headquarters of the Mumbai Fire Brigade, and takes place every Saturday. Admission is limited to pre-registered candidates.
Activity Details:
This month, the Agni Rakshak session was held on 16th November, Saturday, with a total of 63 volunteers.
The volunteers came from various groups and colleges, including Centuria Aviation, SIWS College, and other citizens who registered online as participants for the session.
Theory Lecture Session:
This lecture was led by Senior Station Officer Shide Sir, Station Officer Mohite Sir, and ADFO Shitoli.
The theory session included basic information about fire safety and an overview of the history of the Mumbai Fire Brigade. The session was highly beneficial for the volunteers, helping them understand the methods of responding effectively in case of any fire-related incidents or accidents.
Practical Fire Safety Training:
In the practical fire safety training, the officers taught the volunteers how to use a fire extinguisher.
