AGNI RAKSHAK March 2025

Background:

Mumbai Fire Brigade, in partnership with Project Mumbai, an award-winning not-for-profit organization, launched AGNI RAKSHAK – MAKING MUMBAI FIRE SAFE – a unique citizen volunteer program to train citizens in fire safety and awareness.

Nearly one hundred and thirty citizens from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai participated in classroom and practical sessions for nearly half a day, earning FIRE SAFETY CITIZEN CHAMPION certificates from both organizations.

The session is free for citizens and is held at the Byculla Headquarters of the Mumbai Fire Brigade. It takes place every Saturday and will admit only pre-registered candidates.

Activity Details:

This month, the Agni Rakshak sessions were held on 01st March and 15th March 2025. There were a total of 131 volunteers.

The volunteers came from different groups and colleges. This month, we had:

  • ATENAS Fraternity

  • Nirmala Niketan College

  • Vasantdada Patil College of Engineering & Visual Arts

  • Other citizens who came through online registration

Theory Lecture Session:

  • 01st March: Led by ADFO Tukaram Marewad

  • 15th March: Led by ADFO C.R. Pawar and SO. Rane

The theory lecture session consisted of basic information about fire safety and the overall history of the Mumbai Fire Brigade. The session is very helpful for volunteers to understand methods of taking action in case of a fire-related emergency.
