AGNI RAKSHAK January 2025

Background:

The Mumbai Fire Brigade, in partnership with Project Mumbai, an award-winning non-profit organization, launched **AGNI RAKSHAK – MAKING MUMBAI FIRE SAFE**—a unique citizen volunteer program aimed at training citizens in fire safety and awareness. Close to seventy citizens from across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai participated in both classroom and practical sessions for nearly half a day. They were awarded **FIRE SAFETY CITIZEN CHAMPION** certificates by the two organizations. The session is free for citizens and is conducted at the Byculla Headquarters of the Mumbai Fire Brigade. It takes place every Saturday and admits only pre-registered candidates.

Activity Details:

This month, the **Agni Rakshak** session was held on **Saturday, 25th January**, with a total of **71 volunteers**. The volunteers came from various groups and colleges, including **Vasantdada Patil College of Engineering & Visual Arts**, along with other citizens who registered online for the session.

Theory Lecture Session:

The lecture session was conducted by **ADFO Dhande Sir, Senior Station Officer Shinde Sir, and Station Officer Dhake Sir**. It covered fundamental fire safety information and the history of the Mumbai Fire Brigade. This session provided volunteers with essential knowledge on how to take action in case of a fire-related emergency.

Practical Fire Safety Training:

During the practical fire safety training, the officers demonstrated how to use a fire extinguisher. The session was led by **ADFO Dhande Sir, Senior Station Officer Shinde Sir, and Station Officer Dhake Sir**. Volunteers gained hands-on experience in using fire safety equipment and learned essential firefighting techniques.
