A special stamp cover recognising the spirit of Volunteerism, an initiative of Project Mumbai- the first of its kind in the country, was released by the Chief Post Master General Maharashtra with NGO Project Mumbai and founder Shishir Joshi.
The special cover, titled Change through Volunteerism, also recognises the popular ‘Joy of Giving’ festival – Daanutsav.
The release, attended by philatelists and volunteers, was held in the philately and postal delivery section of the historic General Post Office of Mumbai, surrounded by the postmen and women at work.
Marking the release, CPMG Amitabh Singh said it’s a honour to recognise the role of volunteers across India and the department of Post is privileged to play a role in playing a role in the slice of history. A special stamp cover is a befitting recognition, he added
The special stamp cover has an interesting and inclusive component with the young, not so young, differently abled and mixed groups joining hands to bring about change.
The special stamp cover, first time in India, will be available across post offices in the country.
The Post Master General, Mumbai, Suchita Joshi, GM Finance Jayati, Project Mumbai Co-Founder Sanjay Panvalkar And Board members Jalaj Dani, Mona Mehta, and Umesh Asher were among those with the hundreds of postal employees and philatelists present at the release!
