TransUnion CIBIL Embraces Sustainability: Outreach Visit to Project Mumbai's Office

Mumbai, home to countless corporations, witnessed a heartening shift towards sustainability as TransUnion CIBIL’s CSR team visited the Mumbai-based NGO Project Mumbai. This visit was part of a broader movement among corporate entities to understand and support impactful community initiatives. On Friday, June 14, 2024, a team of 15 members from TransUnion CIBIL engaged with Project Mumbai to learn about their pioneering efforts in plastic recycling through the Project Mumbai Plastic Recyclothon and the newly launched Project Mumbai E-Waste Recyclothon.

Project Mumbai operates on three key pillars: the people, the public, and the private sector, driving citizen impact on a large scale. The Environmental Team at Project Mumbai welcomed the employee volunteers, sharing the inspiring story behind their initiatives. They discussed the benefits and challenges of managing plastic waste, the real-life problems faced by Mumbai’s citizens, and how volunteers play a crucial role in creating a significant impact.

To keep things lively, the hosts quizzed the TransUnion CIBIL team with fun trivia questions, which added an element of excitement and showcased the visitors’ keen interest and attention. An interactive showcase followed, demonstrating the plastic recycling process and highlighting the impressive amenities created from recycled plastic. The employees were amazed to see various items made from plastic waste collected from streets, households, and beaches.

The visit concluded with a hands-on experience, where the team painted two sturdy benches made entirely from recycled plastic. This activity was not only fun but also eye-opening, as the team marveled at the strength and utility of these recycled products.

Inspired by their visit, the TransUnion CIBIL team made a conscious decision to reduce plastic use in their daily lives. They also committed to developing a zero-waste module for their entire company, aiming to contribute to the city’s environmental well-being.

This visit was more than just a CSR visit; it was a testament to the power of collective action and the positive impact that corporate entities can have when they align with community-driven initiatives. The TransUnion CIBIL team left with a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to making Mumbai a cleaner, greener city.
