Mental Health Report september 2024

The Smiling School Project

The Smiling Schools Project is committed to fostering a safe and supportive learning environment by raising awareness and building the capacity of school stakeholder, principals, teachers, and students alike, to effectively address mental health challenges. September 2024, we began our school visits across 50 BMC schools, delivering Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) modules for students from 5th to 9th standard.

Nayi Disha

Nayi Disha is a program dedicated to prison counseling at Arthur Road Jail and Byculla District Jail. Since February 2024, our in-house counselors have been conducting group sensitization sessions at Arthur Road Prison and Byculla District Prison, impacting over 900+ inmates to date. These sessions are designed to foster mental health advocacy and cultivate a supportive environment within the prison community. Through interactive discussions, they focus on increasing awareness of mental health challenges and reducing stigma. The positive outcomes underscore the importance of addressing mental health concerns in correctional facilities, reflecting the ongoing need for such initiatives.

Manaswin

In collaboration with the Central Railways DRM Office, Project Mumbai’s in-house counselors conducted two impactful sessions in September 2024, reaching over 50 Central Railway staff members. Additionally, one session was held at Byculla Prison, engaging more than 50 police personnel. Mental health is a crucial component of overall well-being and deserves the same attention as physical health. By raising awareness, offering support, and ensuring access to vital resources, we can foster environments where individuals are empowered to prioritize their mental health and lead more fulfilling lives.
