Kuchh Pal Apney Sheher Ke Liye.
A Project Mumbai initiative in partnership with Western Railway and Central Railway India's largest citizen led art initiative as part of the country's most exciting public private people partnership.
India’s largest citizen led public art initiative to create a sense of ownership and beautify 30 Railway stations of Mumbai. Sixteen on the Western Railway and 14 on the Central Railway.
The initiative is to kickstart the celebration of Project Mumbai’s volunteering and spirit of philanthropy, MUMBAI GIVES and coincides with the festival of Giving–DAANUTSAV.
Project Mumbai is working to make Mumbai the Country’s Kindness Capital through collaborative philanthropy.
In the last few weeks, teams comprising railway personnel, station officials and Project Mumbai have identified all stations that require a touch of art, mapped the paintable areas, measured them and created designs which are befitting an important and critical aspect of Mumbai–its life line the suburban railway network. (June and July 2024).
In due course, the paintable areas will be cleaned, (July-August) white washed, made paintable, (August-September) followed by drawing of designs on each paintable surface area (September 2024) which will be followed by the kickoff of the initiative on October 2 to October 8, 2024.
PAINTABLE AREAS:
Through the joint efforts, every station has identified paintable areas such as outdoor walls, walls along platform 1, ticket counters, staircases and the foot overbridges (FoB).
PUBLIC PRIVATE PEOPLE PARTNERSHIP:
HSHS, as the initiative is popularly known, will be the largest citizen led public private people partnership involving individuals, citizen groups, organisations, corporate volunteering which will require amenities including paint, material, brushes, safety gear, design tools, water and refreshments and needless to say, talent.
All this would require cost, which Project Mumbai, Mumbai’s most popular not for profit, would like to raise through CSR, General donations as well as crowdfunding to build a sense of ownership.
CREATING LIVELIHOOD OPPORTUNITIES:
Apart from building a sense of ownership towards your city, Project Mumbai through HSHS would also like to create livelihood opportunities to traditional, young and budding artists from Mumbai and the outskirts.
As a first step, we have identified close to 150 such young artists from townships on the outskirts of Mumbai, who would benefit from the crowdfunding support and talent sharing opportunity.
Contribute For HSHS:
This is my city and my railway network. I may like to support this case by either volunteering to step out and painting, or providing logistic and amenity support or create my own little bit of support by financially contributing to the cause.
CROWDFUND WILL BE USED FOR:
The financial support coming from citizens will be used for a large component of miscellaneous activities including water, logistics, refreshments wherever possible, certificate costs, administration and manpower, and most critically, livelihood costs as payment to young talented artists from the outskirts of Mumbai.
SUPPORT BENEFITS:
Donors can make a contribution from as little as 1000 rupees to possibly take on the cost of one entire station if they so wish to.
Every donor will be required to provide his full address, PAN and aadhar details.
Each donor will get a CIVIC responsibility certificate of Honour as well as a tax benefit certificate from Project Mumbai (providing address/pan and full name are mandatory for us to provide you with a tax document as well as an appreciation certificate).
